US PROTEST AGAINST IMMIGRATION DEPORTATIONS.
Seattle Joins Anti-ICE Protest as Tensions Escalate with Police.
Seattle, WA – A protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) turned tense Tuesday night in downtown Seattle as demonstrators clashed with law enforcement amid growing national unrest over immigration policy.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets to voice opposition to ICE’s immigration practices, chanting slogans and holding signs calling for an end to deportations and improved conditions in detention centers. The demonstration, which began peacefully, escalated when some individuals in the crowd began throwing fireworks, rocks, and other objects at police officers.
In response, the Seattle Police Department deployed pepper spray to disperse the crowd and reported several minor injuries among officers. Multiple arrests were made during the confrontation, although the exact number has yet to be confirmed.
Protest organizers have condemned the violence, reiterating that the event was intended to be a peaceful demonstration. "Our goal was to raise awareness about the inhumane treatment of immigrants—not to incite violence," said a spokesperson for the organizing coalition.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and community leaders are urging residents to remain calm and engage in constructive dialogue. As tensions surrounding U.S. immigration enforcement continue to rise, Seattle joins a growing number of cities grappling with the complex intersection of protest, policy, and public safety.
